Wake up and smell the WELLness! The way you spend the first 2 hours of “waking up” sets the foundation for your day. Erin Haslag is the founder and driving force of WELL in L.A. and helps people integrate wellness into their busy lives. As a former analyst in Washington D.C., Erin has been been through her own transformation—not to mention a masters in counseling psychology and public health, multiple coaching and fitness certifications and employment experience in both behavioral health and data analysis. Hubba Hubba. She states,“There are days my Midwest upbringing, East Coast work ethic and California free spirit are at war with each other.” It’s all about vision, intention, planning, design and finally, execution! Before meeting with clients, writing editorial features or working on branding and design projects, Erin shares with us her Top 5 ways to spend your first two hours each day:
Top 5 Ways to Begin a Day… in Los Angeles:
Me, my dog and I: Runyon Canyon + coffee from Cafe Om . Great views paired with one of the best almond milk lattes in L.A. and time with my pup create a winning combination. It’s a bit of a drive, so this happens at best once a month or so.
Sweatfest: I’m currently obsessed with hot yoga and love CorePower Yoga and Hot 8 Yoga in Santa Monica. The classes are killer and my chakras most certainly thank me for putting them through a great workout before I turn on my brain for the day.
Ocean Views: I love grabbing a coffee from Intelligentsia or Espresso Cielo and walking the beach stretch between Venice and Santa Monica to hash out ideas or for conversations with friends or peers.
Tea and meditation: On mornings I’m feeling out of sorts upon waking I start by emptying my mind’s thoughts into a notebook as I sip tea on the side. My favorite local tea blends come from The Art of Tea and Royal/T.
Mimosas and Brunch: For weekend mornings, there’s nothing more sexy than sleeping in and heading out to brunch with a messy bun, bright lipstick (Smashbox’s Melondrama is a current favorite), sunglasses and a cute dress. I adore trying new restaurants as weekend plans permit.
