On the road… travels continue as we land in Michigan for a wedding-filled weekend. The chance to see friends, re-visit stomping grounds and visit local shops is part of the charm of this extended weekend. I was invited to guest-teach at a studio with RealRyder® bikes. Everyone was incredibly accommodating, generous with the compliments (* blushes *) and several people requested the workout playlist for their alternate workouts – running-n-such. Happy to oblige (ahem – follow this link to download the playlist and the music).
On the topic of getting sweaty, one of my favorite drinks is under fire … err, in hot water … for making false health claims. The advice below sums up appropriate re-fueling post-workout. If you like coconut water, that’s cool, but do not rely on it to replace lost nutrients that need to be replaced by whole foods.
[Hydrate] with water instead and get nutrients like sodium and potassium from foods such as bananas and almond butter. And unless you’re running a marathon or climbing mountains, you probably don’t need a sports drink.
Props to one of my favorite nutrition & health peeps as he tackles The Yosemite Half-Bowl Hike this weekend. I know he’s been researching his foods and integrating whole-food based fuels on his journey. A journey of another kind begins on Sunday and I cannot wait to share it with you. Hint – it involves each of YOU, my readers! Any guesses?
