Hi loves! Coming to you from sunny Mexico where I’m taking a week to unplug, relax and be filled with LOTS of inspiration for the last 10 weeks of the year (scary how fast this year is going by, right??). Vacations = so necessary in adult life – whether it’s for a few hours or a few weeks – to simply maintain your mojo and your mental health.
Are you like me? Do you ever find yourself craving a mini-vacation for your body, mind and soul? We love those days when you can make it happen by simply throwing on your favorite pair of jeans, blasting a song you love and dancing around the house. You make the kind of day you want or turn your day around by creating a ‘high’ on life. Then there are those days when this sweet release doesn’t seem to hit the spot for charging the day … and we reach for the nearest cup of coffee to supplement our energy levels. Let’s compare the two very different ways to get ‘high’ on life and the positives and negatives of each modes for changing your mood.
For us, the negatives outweigh the positives in this category. Smart people, *ahem* neuroscientists, have proven that these forms of getting ‘high’ on life only masks the underlying problem. Reaching for that sugar-glazed donut or caffeine-loaded drink to get through the afternoon? You’re better than that. Let’s focus on the natural, safe and crash-free ways to get high on life, minus the icky negative physical effects. [READ ON at Lorna Jane's Move. Nourish. Believe.]

Yes to vacations and natural highs! I’m happy to announce that I have cut out diet coke (which I drank about once a week) and replaced it with sparkling water… kinda boring at first, but I’m sure my insides will thank me one day. Fab post as usual! Now go and enjoy that mexican sunshine!
Doing, doing! I couldn’t agree more that Diet Coke is a tough one too kick. That was my “addiction” in college. I still love me a cuppa’ Joe, but we’re on more casual terms than we used to be ;)
love these beautiful graphics you created!!! xoxo
Oh! I wish I could take credit! Those are from the design team at LJ. If I had the time to create graphics + post, I’d be allllll over it, my fellow design-lover!
I love love love me a strong cup of joe, but proud to say this former caffeine junkie opts for a 5 minute walk barefoot on the grass (neg ions) instead of the usual 3:00 cuppa to kick my butt into gear :-) High on life is def my drug of choice these days. There’s a big difference in “needing” that fix (starbucks run)and just allowing yourself to indulge because you love the taste and smell of it. Great post!
Thanks, Tiff! I have to say that the older I get the less I use the word “need” when referring to food or drink and it’s a pretty fab place to be in life. I love the green grass + negative ions. There really is something about staying grounded and connected to Mother Nature as a source of “natural highs”.
