READING
Meredith Baird, creative director at Matthew Kenney (one of the many “hats” she wears) is releasing Everyday Raw Detox, with Matthew Kenney in March. I have a sneak-preview PDF version waiting for me on my iPad this weekend. If you’re as excited as I am to grab a copy of this book, you can pre-order on Amazon or keep reading the blog for an upcoming giveaway of Everyday Raw Detox.
LOVING
The colors in this piece are speaking to me. I love the warmth and the depth. I would loooooove to design a brand or full website around these colors. There’s more of what I’m loving to be found on Pinterest.
EATING
I have a very generous supply of Vega foods – including chocolate! – that I intend to play with this weekend. Have you ever heard of savi seeds – also known as the “Inca Peanut”? (I hadn’t until Vega sent me a sample!) If you haven’t you’ll be in for a treat as I share what I learn on these. Vega has a chocolate covered version that I’m planning to play with in a variation on this energy bar recipe.
TRYING
To make my own bowls! I’ve recently moved and now that the big furniture is in place I’m sizing up the walls and spaces. I don’t really know how to best define my “style” in terms of home decor – I’m much better within the confines of a Photoshop! – but these little bowls spoke to me. It looks like a “roll up your sleeves and get a little messy” kind of project – the perfect escape from screen time. I pulled together an Amazon list with the components needed if you want try this project.
LEARNING
Learning ways to improve my writing and blogging is always on the frontal lobe of my brain. I love the weekends because I can shut down my inbox (okay… MOSTLY shut it down) and sink into reading, thinking about the direction for this blog and scoping places to guest post. This weekend I’m catching up on a few pieces starred in my reader, like this piece on the perfect blogging output level. And toying with the idea of opening up WELL for contributors this year!
THANKING
There is so much to be thankful for this week! One of my very dear friends sent me a set of these gorgeous French Linen-inspired dinner plates, which will be making frequent appearances on food-related posts. A big thank you to Mary Beth for a night of vino, vegan Thai and catching up on Girls. And Lynn of The Actor’s Diet for the coffee & brownie blogger date at Zinque, along with a lovely gifted cookbook that is all about greens.

[...] Mutual friends and connections had been telling me about the dynamic Jacki Carr for almost a year – her energy, her expertise on the topic of goals and her love for life. I knew we would be friends, kindred souls, the minute we met. I wondered what had taken me so long to put the connection together when we finally met a month ago at a yoga + goals workshop led by she and the wonderful Mary Beth LaRue. [...]
