Finding your wellness focus amid all the noise, from the contradictory research to tabloid magazine diet plans and the endless obsession our culture has with weight can drive a person insane. My role as a wellness coach is to clear the clutter – allowing you to zone in on your well-being. When you feel great, life is rich with opportunities – dream, create, travel, explore and live each day more fully. Teach yourself a new way to live your life. Organize and prioritize for your health. Below are goodies & freebies for each of the major areas of WELLness that I focus on to stay sane, happy, healthy and WELL.
I like to cook and I love to eat good food. I don’t waste my time on processed crap. I choose to nourish my body with real, whole foods. Cooking a meal is like writing a love letter, sprinkled with rosemary, sea salt and maybe a dash of brown sugar. Show yourself and those you care about just HOW MUCH you love them by feeding them WELL!
My Greens Primer + Recipes (it’s Salad for Savants!) and my Smoothie Guide (FILLED with recipes!). Two very easy ways to use whole foods and incorporate greens. And if you search for “kale” or “recipes” on the site you’ll find plenty to keep you busy in the kitchen.
I love my family dearly, but I also know that it’s a slippery slope into genes that don’t necessarily support a slender frame. I workout to feel my best, maintain low stress levels and to continue wearing the same jeans I had in high school (hell, yeah!!). I started running half-marathons in college after realizing I wasn’t coordinated enough for the packed step aerobic classes. I took my love of running off the roads after an injury and began teaching spinning and strength training classes. I love to share music – it’s my number one motivator to move and there are LOADS of playlists on this site.
Not being able to find your car keys from time-to-time happens to the best of us. But really how can you expect to live healthy if you can’t keep your schedule, your refrigerator or your gym bag clean and cleared? With all of the available outlets, distractions and social gatherings you HAVE to be prepared to keep your health a priority. I also hate the thought of being in front of my computer all day or spending my weekends shopping for food & incidentals. I make it my goal to keep things simple and find smart ways to organize my life, my kitchen and my home.
Check out this worksheet for planning your week in food + movement. Or pick up a few cues from my “Get Organized” series. I can help you clear your clutter and find time to start making health your priority.
We are ALL creative souls. Creativity isn’t simply about the more traditional forms of art – pen, paper, paint. Celebrate your creativity no matter its form. Maybe you rock the chef hat in the kitchen. Or create solutions to problems that we spatially-challenged people can’t quite navigate. The world is one big puzzle and we all bring our unique gifts to the table to create a masterpiece. Find, celebrate and rejoice in your creativity. Setting aside time for your creative ventures encourages more mindfulness toward your environment, people in your lives and yourself. When do you have time for this?? See above!
Wanting to reconnect with your spiritual faith or practice? Or learn what else is out there? Great – go explore! Find inspirations and dig into life. Breathe big full breaths that almost make you feel like your lungs will explode. And be thankful for that feeling because this life is too damn short, in my humble opinion! Rituals, practices and meditations will help us stay grounded, connected and blissful amid all the noise.
I love it when I find writings by smart people so I can learn and grow! This is such a great, short read. Grab it! The Psychological and Physical Benefits of Spiritual/Religious Practice
When was the last time you sent or received a “thank you” note? You really can’t go wrong with these two words. You don’t have to put pen to paper each time, but a quick phone call or a very personal email to express appreciation is always warranted. I have a stack of “thank you” notes on my desk and a really cool iPad app for sending notes, making it easy to go the extra mile. Put good karma into the universe! Express gratitude with journals, an online community or in your relationships. Make it a daily practice for optimal wellness.
